SS540 is a kind of common carbon steel plate/sheet used as steel plate .SS540 and other series steel srades or levels in the Japanese standard JIS G3101 ,and they are SS330, SS400, SS490,SS540 .

SS540 steel plate/sheet can be hot-rolled or coled rolled .SS540 steel plate/sheet in the standard.The chemical composition SS540 steel sheet /sheet mainly conclude element C,Si,Mn,S,P,Ni,Cr and Fe.

SS540 is used as steel plate or steel sheet.The first S means Steel , the second S Structure , and 540 as the limit tensile strength of 540 MPa.SS540 is common carbon steel with the tensile strength of 540 MPa.

Mechanical propertites of SS540 steel plate/sheet is as following .Tensile strength of SS540 steel plate is at least 540 Mpa.Yeild strength in thickness 16mm to 40mm of SS540 steel plate is equal or greater than 390MPa.
